LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday decided to send 17-year-old Mohammad Asghar to Australia for the upcoming three-Test series against the Kangaroos in the wake of Yasir Shah’s back injury, a PCB source said. Asghar, who is yet to don Pakistan colours at the top level, rose to prominence during the inaugural edition of Pakistan Super League in February. The left-arm orthodox picked up 11 wickets at an average of 18.45 in nine matches for Shahid Afridi-led Peshawar Zalmi. Asghar has four 5-fers and one 10-wicket haul at the first-class level. Leg-spinner Yasir sustained hurt his back during a practice session and he is rested for the on-going warm-up contest against Cricket Australia XI. Asghar will be the third specialist spinner in the 17-man squad after Yasir and Mohammad Nawaz, another left-arm orthodox.
