Four of a family killed over marriage proposal dispute

At least four people of one family killed and 4 injured over the dispute of marriage proposal in Tehsil Jalalpur Peewala of district Multan today on Sunday. Meanwhile the attacker also committed suicide by shooting himself, told Police.

Jalalpur Peewala Police told that Atiq-ur-Rehman broke into the victims’ house located in Islampura colony in Tehsil Jalalpur and opened firing as a result of which three people were killed on the spot while five got injured. After firing, Atiq also committed suicide. Police told that the injured and deceased were immediately shifted to the nearest hospital where another woman lost her life. Police told that the deceased include the girl for whom the marriage proposal was sent and the family rejected, girl’s brother, father and mother. The sister of girl is injured, told police. Police told that Atiq-ur-Rehman was the resident of Khushab and came to Jalalpur Peerwala to settle the matter of marriage proposal. Police told that the further investigation of the matter was underway.

On the other hand, City Police Officer Imran Mahmood has directed DSP Cantonment Tariq Mahboob to conduct a search operation along with other law enforcement agencies to probe the incident of Jalalpur Peerwala occurred on Eid day in which 10 people were killed.

Sadar Police has conducted search operation in Basti Zaidan, Basti Darg, Basti Dahar and Basti Sawan. Police has also claimed to recover heavy weaponry and explosives during search operation. Police told that 15 illegal weapons and ammunition seized while 7 suspects were arrested in search operation. The area residents were also briefed about the importance and sensitivity of the operation and they were requested to cooperate in the coming days till the successful completion of operation.
