THARPARKAR: After receiving sufficient shower of monsoon, the Thari people are ready to cultivate their lands with the help of tractors, camels, bulls and other animals. Natives complained that the shopkeepers have increased the rates of seeds; hence they were not able to buy easily but they hope the current spell of rain will support for healthier crops to shatter the earlier worries of continues drought. Native ponds, locally called “Tarai” to nearby villages have been filled up, which is source of drinking water for inhabitants and their livestock. Several families who had migrated to the barrage areas have started to come back to their homes. A rough figure of current rainfall in Mithi 17 mm, in Islamkot 03 mm, in Diplo 70 mm, in Nagarparkar 24 mm, in Chachro and Dahli 04 mm has been recorded. It’s a good start but not enough, local villager told to Daily Times. Owing to continuous rain in entire Thar, the weather has become very pleasant. Hundreds of visitors from adjacent areas have been paid their visit to Nagarparkar, Karoonjhar hills, Gadhi Bhitt, Ranasar Tarai and other picnic points of Tharparkar on daily basis. The beautiful Karoonjhar and its nearby mountains have covered with greenery after heavy rain. Shahabuddin Nohrio, a well-known writer and poet were of the views that recent rain has turned into happiness for Thari people; hope this year would be better and bring lot of joys on the faces of drought affected people. G. R. Juenjo, young journalist said that government should take immediate measures to supply of seeds on low cost to the inhabitants to avoid any difficulty in cultivating the fields.
