Sir: The World Health Organization statistics indicates that Pakistan has the highest rates of HIV in the region, with 25,000 causes registered annually, and its HIV rate is the highest in south Asia.
According to the National Health Services Report (NHSR), there are more than 150,000 HIV/AIDS positive patients in the country, 75,000 in Punjab and 15,000 are in KP. The fatal ailment AIDS are not only being transmitted by sexual contacts but in blood transfusion by the use of contaminated needles and syringes, dental surgical instruments, instruments used in barber’s saloons or beauty salons as well.
So, to avoid from this fatal disease, we must be careful and government is urge to establish more healthcare centres where the patients of HIV/AIDS should be treated properly.
