Ramna SHO booked for keeping citizen in illegal custody, torture

Published on: December 20, 2016 4:24 AM

ISLAMABAD: On the court’s instruction, Ramna Police Station has registered a case against its own SHO, Shad Abro and other six police officials, for keeping a young man under illegal custody and subjecting him to torture.

However, as the result of registering the case for “habeas corpus” on December 17, after the lapse of almost 27 days, neither has the SHO been removed from his post as the in charge of the police station nor was he been suspended from service.

Reliable sources told Daily Times that the police had to obey the court’s orders and so they registered a case No 423 against SHO Inspector, Shad Abro, Sub Inspector Shafiq, ASI Samar, ASI Saleem, PS Registrar(Moharar) Ali and Arshad. The applicant Habib Khan, resident of G/10-4, had given an application in the court of a Sessions Judge in which he told the court that his elder brother, Shahrukh, was driving his car bearing the registration number QZ 345, along with his family at midnight

Actually he was going to purchase medicine for his ailing mother, when police cops in plain clothes prevented them at G/11 Sector.

They checked the documents of the vehicles. On the occasion ASI Samar said that they had some old account with him and now they would settle it. After that they called the police party. After sometime a vehicle bearing registration number CV177 came in which three police officials were present.

Shahrukh asked the police official to tell what his fault was but they forcibly took him to the Police Station at Ramna where they tortured him in the presence of the SHO, Shad Abro. They also snatched the documents of the car, the motor cycle, the mobile phone and Rs 8800

SHO Shad said that he recognised him and he would register such a strong report against him that he would not be freed for a long time. After torturing him the whole night they informed the SSP Islamabad as well as the home-mates of the affected Shahrukh.

Despite the registration of the case against him, SHO Abro, is getting protection money from a woman who supplies girls for sex to rich and influential people. She is using a car bearing registration number LX 1415. The same vehicle is also utilised by the police officials to collect their share from the wrongdoers.

When this scribe tried to contact the IG Police, Zia-ul-Qamar, to know his stance on the story, his cellular phone remained powered off.
