A major bid to smuggle drugs was foiled by Anti Narcotics Force (ANF), on Tuesday at the Islamabad airport.
According to sources, ANF officials carried out a raid at Islamabad Airport and seized 1,130 grams of ice heroin to the tune of millions of rupees from a man’s possession.
The drug peddler was also arrested. A resident of Hangu, the arrested man was due to fly to Jeddah when he was caught. He was later shifted to ANF’s cell for the probe.
Earlier on April 17, ANF had similarly foiled a smuggling attempt at the Jinnah International Airport. Its officials had caught a passenger, Mir Muhammad, as he was about to board a foreign airline with packets of heroin in his luggage.
The arrested man was also heading to Saudi Arabia. Screening of his luggage detected the drugs, which led to his arrest.
According to officials, the value of the drugs was worth millions of rupees in the international market.
The passenger had been detained while further investigation was underway, the ANF spokesperson said.
Ice (crystal methamphetamine), also known as crystal, crystal meth or d-meth, is a usually found in powder or crystal form. The drug is usually snorted, injected or smoked by addicts.
