In order to reconstruct over 57,000 damaged houses in the newly-mainstreamed five tribal districts, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has released 18.4 billion rupees for rehabilitation purposes. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Media Iftikhar Durrani took to Twitter to post a compensation chart in this regard. He believed over 15.389 billion rupees had been paid for 38,473 fully damaged houses while over three billion rupees were released for 19,097 partially damaged houses in these districts. He termed this step another example of the provincial government’s concern for well-being of the tribal people. It should be mentioned that on July 2, the tribal districts would hold its first ever elections for the provincial assembly after its merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Candidates were given time until May 11 to submit nomination papers. After which, the Election Commission of Pakistan would start its scrutiny from May 18. As per the election schedule, appeals against acceptance or rejection of the nomination papers by the returning officers can be filed by May 22. On May 30, ECP would allot the election symbol to the contesting candidates.
