KARACHI: Former president and Pakistan People’s Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has directed to defer party rally in the metropolis to avoid road jams as people are already facing serious traffic problems on daily basis. It has been planned that after the arrival of the former president, the PPP Karachi chapter will give a reception and hold public gathering in the proximity of city airport’s old terminal. The PPP local leaders are in the process of finalising all arrangements made for the arrival of party’s Co-chairman Asif Zardari’s reception on December 23. The former president will arrive in a special plane that would disembark on Karachi Airport’s old terminal one at 3 pm. He will be given a grand reception at the old terminal. This step has been taken in the public interest to avoid miseries of residents of the city as on daily basis, Karachiites are facing serious traffic jams sometimes for hours, a PPP sources said on Tuesday. The Party has asked its workers to come in rallies at the Karachi airport but the Co-chairman will not be taken back in any rally, a source informed. Commissioner Karachi Ajaz Ali Khan visited Karachi airport old terminal in this regard and overviewed the preparations for the reception as well as the public gathering in the same proximity. On December 24, PPP Sindh will host a lunch in honour of Co-chairman PPP and all provincial and national party leadership will meet with the Co-chairman in the reception and discuss about the final arrangements of a huge public gathering to be held on December 27, at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Larkana on the death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto. The Former premier will leave the city on December 25, where he (would offer fateha on the grave of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.
