As many as 80,000 cops and volunteers have been deputed for the security of 32,585 mosques and imambargahs across Punjab during Ramazan.
Sources claimed that Regional Police Officers (RPOs), City Police Officers (CPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) would personally monitor the security of churches.
This was finalised during a meeting of RPOs, CPOs and DPOs held at the Central Police Office on Sunday. The conference was chaired by Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) ® Capt Arif Nawaz.
Others present on the occasion included Additional Training Inspector General (IG) Tariq Masood Yasin; Additional IG (Operations) Inam Ghani; Additional IG (Welfare and Finance) Sardar Ali Khan; Additional IG Punjab Highway Petrol Manzoor Sarwar Chaudhry; Additional IG (Investigation) Abubakar Khudabaksh; Additional IG (Elite Police Force) Shahid Hanif; Lahore Capital City Police Officer BA Nasir; Additional IG (Logistics and Procurement) Ghulam Rasool Zahid; Punjab Constabulary Commandant Kunwar Shahrukh as well as all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs.
Additional IG (Operations) Ghani noted that a comprehensive security plan had been prepared for the Ramazan wherein all available resources would be utilised for its execution.
It was said that 80,000 police officers, officials and volunteers would perform security duty at 32,585 mosques and imambargahs of the province.
The holy month of Ramazan would begin across Pakistan on Tuesday.
