An application has been filed against the Aurat March organisers in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), which will be heard today by Chief Justice Athar Minallah himself. The petition said that an immoral campaign on the rights of women had left a negative impact on the youth, and not controlling such a march was against the Islamic ideology of the country. The petition demanded tough action against those involved in the march, and added that those holding “immoral banners” should be identified by seeking their details from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). Meanwhile, organisers of Aurat March said they had received death and rape threats on the social media over the event. The days following the march saw social media attacks on women, while some prominent men complained about “obscene” signs carried by the protesters. A member of the country’s largest religious political party filed a complaint with police in Karachi.
