She was the first woman to compose the songs for an MCU film in June 2018 keeping in mind the key theme that is evident through the name of the series of films in the MCU. The relationship between the Kree and Skrulls was developed later in an effort to connect them “to find the universe.” She makes an attempt to link the space and the earth and the entire universe by describing the scenes on earth as fun. The memories of childhood, the bedtime stories told as a child, the joyous moments of cycling and falling, racing ATV’S, all are happy moments enjoyed on the Earth.

The story has been written by Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve and the screenplay is by Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck. A screenplay is the script of a film which is based on a story or novel, including acting instructions and scene directions. It is related to theatre and film. A story, on the other hand, is authored by someone meaning it has a copyright and cannot be altered. It is a tale, narrative, account or recital.
Like all superhero films Captain Marvel, too, has a plot that is greatly similar to other superhero films especially Justice League, Wonder Woman & Venom.
The Orphan, a film about a Russian woman who takes on the form of a young girl is also a relevant parallel to the shapeshifters shown in the film.
The film opens on the dialogue:
“You struggle with your emotions and past.”
The dialogue is strong in conveying the message of not letting your emotions and memories interfere with your present. Controlling the demons in your head by conquering your fears and replacing your negative thoughts with positive ones is the primary thematic concern.
A strong parallel can be drawn here with the film Venom which too is focused on how journalist Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) learns how to control the evil thoughts that invade his head and at-last makes peace with his mind. Another opening dialogue is: “Put your peoples need before your own.”

It establishes the ground for war between the Skrulls or shapeshifters and the human race.
The Skrulls are aliens from another galaxy that have come to invade the people of the Planet Earth. Shape Shifters can change their form just like the Polyjuice Potion in Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets written by J.K. Rowling.
Agent Wendy Lawson & Agent Vers form a team to eliminate the aliens from the human race. Wendy Lawson is a scientist who creates a communication device to track the Skrulls.
Here the audience is introduced to Nicolas Fury who initially belongs to the Intelligence. He is on the lookout for Agent Vers.
While interrogating each other on who is a Skrull, they join hands in a music club with a melodious song playing in the background:
“I’m only happy when it rains. That’s why I feel so good, so sad.” Coming back to Dr Lawson who designed Project Pegasus, which experimented with technology that would help to win the war.
Initially, the Skrulls are after Dr Lawson who belongs to Supreme Intelligence. They believe she has the power to stop the Skrulls before they become unstoppable. As the film goes on showing the tussle between the Skrulls and Superheroes, the question that emerges is who really is the true Captain Marvel, the true superhero?
Is the mission complete against the Skrulls? Is there yet another war or has peace finally been made? Who really are the Skrulls? Are they aliens, demons, terrorists? Who are they? Who are the space invaders? Who is the code?
