Barrister Wahab lauds Karachiites for rejecting politics of hatred, discrimination

Published on: April 30, 2019 4:19 AM

Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister for information, law and anti-corruption, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, on Monday, relayed that in the wake of the heat wave, all commissioners and deputy commissioners had been directed to take precautionary measure and setup heat wave centres in health care facilities and cold water facilities.

He added that provincial rehabilitation and health departments were also instructed to prepare a plan to cope with the challenge.

Barrister Wahab was talking to media persons at Sindh assembly media corner when he added that Karachi Commissioner was supervising the relief measures in Karachi.

As many as 112 heatwave centres and 185 cold water points were set up in different locations of the metropolis.

He further informed that 18 mobile teams had also been formed for the provision of immediate medical aid to heat wave affectees while 24 ambulances would remain in standby for emergency situations. Giving the district-wise breakup, Barrister Wahab asserted that in district central, 24 medical support centres, 65 cold water facilities had been set up.

Meanwhile, in district Korangi, 15 heatwave centres and 24 water facilities were established with six ambulances on standby. In district Malir, 15 centres, 15 water points, 28 centres and 28 water points were talked about; with 34 heatwave centres and 21 chill water points in district west and nine centres and 19 water points in district east.

The provincial advisor strongly condemned the earlier manhandling of media persons and cameramen by the political activists in a public gathering and asked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to train its workers. Media remained the fourth pillar of the state, he continued, such attitude with media persons was not a positive sign.

Sindh ready for all precautions against the heat wave

Commenting on the public meeting of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), he congratulated the brave citizens of Karachi for rejecting the politics of hatred, discrimination and division. In the past, youth were encouraged to take arms on the basis of linguistic discrimination instead of being guided to acquire education.

Wahab was of the view that the atmosphere of fear and terror had come to an end in the city; adding that the lights of the city had been restored.

Once again, he said, MQM-P tried to drag youth towards politics of linguistic discrimination on this weekend, citizens of Karachi rejected it.

“The citizen of Karachi wanted to follow politics of mean streaming and they wanted to resolve their issues,” the advisor said. He wondered how long would the party continue to drag citizens of Karachi towards hatred for its own motives?

He held the opinion that the time had now come to end the politics of discrimination.

“It is time to raise question on the performance of Mayor Karachi and Mayor Hyderabad and ministers of MQM-P sitting in federal government, what they had done for their voters,” Wahab maintained.

He said that the Sindh government was releasing seven billion rupees to KMC every year for the relief of people. Yet, no development was said to have been carried out in Karachi.

Karachi Mayor only complains about the powers, he continued.

The advisor asserted that MQM-P had the power of China cutting on green belts and had powers to demolish the markets.

It was, however, strange that they do not have powers for providing relief to people of Karachi, he added.

Wahab noted that the voters of Karachi, Sukkur, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas had rejected the politics of MQM-P.

The MQM-P called Sindh their motherland in Sindh assembly as well as in public gatherings in other parts of the province, he concluded.
