A 26-year-old woman died after doctors at the Sindh Government Hospital, Korangi-V, allegedly administered her wrong injection.
The parents and guardians of victim Ismat claimed that she had a severe toothache, for which she visited the hospital, but the doctors gave her wrong injection and she died within 15 minutes.
The family approached the Awami Colony Police Station, where a case was registered, after which the police arrested two paramedics, as the duty doctor had fled the hospital.
Ismat was laid to rest in Ibrahim Hyderi Goth cemetery on Friday. “After the funeral, we will go [to the authorities] to ask for justice,” said the victim’s father.
He alleged that after the checkup, the hospital staff administered an injection to his daughter, and her condition deteriorated within minutes. “We were instructed to take her to Jinnah Hospital, but she died within 15 minutes,” he claimed.
The station house officer concerned said the police had arrested the on-duty staff, while the syringe used and the drug given to her had been seized. “The cause of death shall be known in the post-mortem report,” he added.
It may be mentioned here that a nine-month-old girl was left paralysed after being administered wrong injection at Karachi’s Darul Sehat Hospital. According to the first information report (FIR), high dosage of medicine was administered to Nishwa, which worsened her condition.
