Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly, Firdous Shamim Naqvi, on Saturday, claimed that the 18th Constitutional Amendment was not a religious document that could not be changed no matter what. Speaking to the media, he vowed that the PTI government would bring a change to the Amendment.
People of the country would have to face a hard time, for now, he asserted while adding that the previous governments have taken enormous amounts in loans.
“We are trying to enhance revenue collection and cut external debt,” he added. Naqvi believed the country’s economy would stabilise due to the measures taken by the PTI government.
He, meanwhile, remarked that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was overcome by the fear of former president Asif Ali Zardari’s arrest. The opposition leader said the ruling PTI could not be intimidated by threats of a long march as he vowed to give a reply to such leaders in the same coin.
“We can also give a reply by holding a long march.” Sindh’s land was being sold at throwaway prices while its water was stolen and hospitals were ruined, he regretted.
Earlier, PPP Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, had said on Friday evening that the party would march on Islamabad if efforts were made to interfere with the 18th Amendment. He remarked this while addressing a public gathering in Ghotki.
