The offices of Daily Times we left disconnected with the rest of the world after internet carrying data cables were cut by unknown persons. A key account manager said that data cables carrying the area’s internet connection were cut during the night at a government run development project.
Khawal Hussain, a key account manager for Wateen Telecom internet service provider told the Daily Times that unnecessary cable cutting by WAPDA (Water And Power Development Authority) could be behind the signal outage. Hussain added that WAPDA does not giving any prior warning before cutting cables.
The representative explained that no timeframe for the restoration of connectivity to Daily Times could be given. According to the statement of the internet service provider, other consumers near the Daily Times office may or may not be affected due to this unannounced cable cutting, which Wateen Telecom claims could have been done by WAPDA or some other government authority.
