Capital woman ‘gang-raped’ on New Year’s Eve

Published on: January 2, 2017 5:19 AM

ISLAMABAD: Sihala Police has registered the first ever case of the new year, 2017, mentioning the gang rape of a married woman against four persons who portrayed themselves as an MNA, a judge and a Police SHO.

The accused tricked a woman in the name of giving her the job of a teacher as they called her to a house for interview near Sihala Railways Crossing, where the accused raped her.

Sihala Police has arrested the main accused of the case, Chaudhary Tauqeer, after registering the case. The woman told the police in her application that she is dwelling at Ghauri Town with her husband who works as a tailor.

As the earning of his husband was meagre so she needed some job. Some days ago a person named Chaudhary Tauqeer met her, took her CV and assured her that he would appoint her as a teacher in his own school at Sihala.

On Saturday he called the woman and asked her to come for an interview .When she reached there, Tauqeer, along with three more persons, was already present there

Chaudhary Tauseef introduced himself as an MNA, another person named Iqbal as a judge at Muzaffarabad while the third one was introduced as an SHO.

When Daily Times contacted the investigation officer of the case, ASI Ghulam Rasool, he said the police had got the medical examination of the affected woman from Poly Clinic Hospital. He said that raids were being conducted to arrest all the accused.

Not even a single case against the ‘drunk’: The Federal Police released many people who were arrested from different corners of the federal capital, for rambling while drunk and creating mess on the roads on New Year’s Eve, without registering even a single case.

Sources told this scribe that dozens of people were arrested during New Year’s night as part of their celebrations –violating laws — but not a single case was registered against them in any police station.

New Year events start in the federal capital with a musical festival at Lok Virsa arranged for families by the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage.

The main night parties took place in Bahria Town Islamabad, Sector F-6, F-7, F-8, F-10, F-11, G-7, G-6, E-7, Blue Area, Lake View Park, Bani Gala, Sharkarparian and other main spots of the city.

The event managers offered attractive packages to the youngsters especially the couples. The packages include BBQs, buffets, fish and other items in dinners plus “Sheesha”, music drugs and drinking facilities.

Wine was not included in the package at many party points but the participants were allowed to bring their own bottles with them.

Fireworks were set off at many points of the federal capital. Bahria Town Islamabad had also arranged fireworks which were appreciated largely by the public. Some people outside their homes as well as those in the few public parks also carried out the demonstration of fireworks in the streets. A scuffle between two groups in Alipur Farash , a suburb area of Islamabad had also been reported in which six youngsters received serious injuries. The injured were rushed to a local hospital whereas the Koral Police denied the incident upon being contacted.

Additional Senior Superintendent Police Islamabad, Mir Wayiz, told Daily Times that a large number of security personnel were deployed in the city keeping in view the growing security risks adding that the police preparations were quite enough to avert any unpleasant situation and to provide security to the public on New Year’s night. But there were no major incidents during the celebrations,

“As Islamabad is the home of a variety of large wealthy and westernised elite, so special security arrangements were made in this regard on New Year’s Eve”, the police officer added.
