SRINAGAR: The All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman (APHC) Syed Ali Gilani has said that India cannot deny or dispute the legitimacy and authenticity of the UN resolutions on Kashmir. A press release issued on Thursday cited Gilani as saying that the UN resolutions on Kashmir are testament to the fact that the political destiny of Jammu and Kashmir is yet to be decided. He said that these resolutions formed the basis of the guarantee to the Kashmiri people of a peaceful settlement to the Kashmir dispute as per their wishes and aspirations. He lamented that no foreign body had played any role to facilitate the implementation of the UN resolutions on Kashmir. He added that the UN made laudable efforts regarding the issues of poverty, malnutrition, but it was unfortunate to see that they have never been able to contain arrogant forces like India from trespassing on the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Gilani said, “Suppressed people are losing their faith in this institution and they are forced to adopt other means of resistance which may have drastic repercussions.” The APHC chairman expressed his disappointment over the role that the international body had played to resolve the issue.
