Sexist jokes need to stop: Ainy Jaffri

Published on: February 15, 2019 12:53 AM

The world is slowly changing and we for one are super glad to see that as women in the past were not given the due respect they deserved as there was no one willing to raise a voice for them.

But now, a lot is being done and that is a good sign especially when our celebrities also decide to raise awareness about how important it is to respect women as recently seen in a post by actress Ainy Jaffri.

Appearing in drama ‘Tajdeed-e-Wafa’ currently and winning everyone’s hearts by her movie ‘Balu Mahi’, Ainy Jaffri recently decided to take to social media to express how it was quite rude to crack sexist jokes and laugh about it in a crowd as she wrote, “Q. Why did a woman cross the road? A: Who cares! What the hell is she doing out of the kitchen? Q: Why hasn’t NASA sent a woman to the moon? A: It doesn’t need cleaning yet! These sexist jokes may appear funny and harmless to some, but they are actually not funny and only serve to further perpetuate sexist behaviour and antagonism towards the opposite sex ie women in this case.”

‘So it’s not okay and if anyone makes these kind of dumb jokes in your presence, give them a look of revulsion and then kindly explain how it’s not funny. If they continue to act dim, they’re not worth your time’

Adding further she said, “So it is not okay and if anyone makes these kinds of dumb jokes in your presence, give them a look of revulsion and then kindly explain how it’s not funny. If they continue to act dim, they’re not worth your time.”

With us agreeing 100 percent with what Jaffri has said, “We hope that many will read and take her advice as in this day and understand that these things are just not cool.”
