On Sunday, attendees enjoyed a special performance by comedian and impersonator Shafaat Ali, a mesmerising performance by the charismatic Sohai Abro as well as a power-packed performance by the music industry’s newest sensation Khumariyaan. Khumariyaan is a Pashto music band from Pakistan that also plays other styles. The band has represented their country abroad in the United Kingdom (UK), the United States and elsewhere. Shafaat Ali is a Pakistani impressionist and comedian who is known for his impressions of Pakistani public figures. Ali has co-hosted the ‘4 Man Show’. In 2011, Ali co-hosted Banana News Network. He started his own show ‘Mere Aziz Ham Watno’ in which he starred as well. In 2016, videos of Ali went viral in which he impersonated Imran Khan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Shehbaz Sharif and he became an overnight sensation online. Ali was a part of ‘Dil Dil Ramzan’ as well. Superstar Javed Sheikh and veteran model Natasha Hussain also graced the event with their presence.. Renowned radio jockey and entertainer Khalid Malik hosted the event which added to the enthusiasm and excitement of the audiences The event which aimed at honouring top designers, architects and artists of Pakistan was well attended with even our President Arif Alvi gracing it. The Architecture Design Art (ADA) Awards 2019 were held at Governor’s House. The awards ceremony set new precedents by focusing on excellence and innovation within the field of design, arts and architecture. Shafaat Ali’s performance set the mood for the event. The winners of the first ADA Awards 2019 were a host of prominent and upcoming architects, designers and artists from Pakistan. The awards recognise excellent and innovative designs. The jury for these awards included experts from both Pakistan and across the world, representing countries such as the United Kingdom, Turkey, Italy, Singapore, France, Lebanon and Iran. The jury members went through hundreds of submissions in two days to select the winners for each category. “I am delighted by the resounding success of our first ADA Awards and the effort made by all the participants to submit such excellent work. I am humbled by the international jury that have lent their support and time to support our cause. We are confident that this is just the beginning of a new journey to showcase the talent of Pakistan to the world.” The ADA Awards were supported by The Aga Khan Award for Architecture, which is the most prestigious and coveted award in the field of architecture in the world.
