Parents lambast govt for holding sports gala in biting cold

ISLAMABAD: Parents of school going children have lambasted the government for holding sports activities in biting cold season which has badly affected the children health resulting in many children are now admitted in hospital after suffering from various seasonal diseases, according to record of the hospital and complains of the parents.

Parents and teacher as well have strongly condemned and protested against federal directorate of education authorities for holding sport gala in the chilly weather and called it wastage of time of the children who have yet to finish their syllabus.

Sports activities are essential part of the education but it could not be pursued at the cost of the education of their children, parents told Daily Times on Tuesday.

Parents and children have castigated state minister Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry for staging sports gala in the winter season because the children want to complete their syllabus but the authorities are pushing them up to sports gala.

The parent said that it is useless pursuits and is being staged in the capital to embezzle huge sum of money from the national exchequer on the name of sports.

According to the schedule of the sport gala, every school of the capital has been directed to send their students to these activities as it is now top priority of the government to impart tactics for sport among the children.

Education reforms in the capital are being introduced on the direction of Maryam Nawaz only to boost her image in the particularly area of the capital on the political expediency which should be condemned, Khalid Mehmood told Daily Times.

Federal Directorate of Education has also announced the schedule of annual exam in the capital which are likely to be taken place in the middle of March but a month before which is considered a crucial and critical time for study the government has arranged sports gala.

To hold sports events before the examination season is harmful to the future of the children and if the government is sincerely impart sport tactics to the children then it should change the schedule, Ijaz father of four school going sons said.

The parent told that during the winter season the children often reluctant to go to school for attending classes but now the children forcefully being asked to attend sport activies being held at sport complex which is also nuance for us ,the parent living in poor areas of capital G sector told.

The teachers told that the syllabus of the prescribed courses have not been finished but the crucial times of the young generation would be wastage on the name of the sport activist which is at the cost of the education which is already being imparted valueless.

Many parents told that their sibling suffered from various disease including fever, headache , flue and throat problem because they are exposed to chilly and breeze winds that are harmful to them.

While talking with Daily Times Director general FDE Tariq Masood told that sport gala is essential and it would be held as per schedule as the gals comprises three session which are held time to times. When his attention was drew toward the loss of education of the children then he promised to revisit the schedule of sport gal after holding consultation with director schools.

DG told that sport gala time frames could be curtailed and in this issue the parents and teachers voices would be heard.
