200 kanals of illegally occupied land retrieved after grand operation

Published on: January 22, 2017 5:10 AM

ISLAMABAD: The capital police have evacuated land over 200 kanals illegally occupied by the local leader of Jamiat-e-Islami Pakistan Zubair Khan in a grand operation against him and also recovered 6 Kalashnikov and approximately 70 guns from his possession.

According to details, Dr Nabeel Shah has lodged a complaint with the Golra Police stating that Zubair Khan, local leader of JI along with his close ally Khalid Bhatti had developed a housing colony in this area. He was the owner of 1000 kanal of land while he sold approximately 1700 kanal of land on stamp paper to different people.

The complaint added that the organizers of the housing colony Zubair Khan and his partner Khalid Bhatti are not handing over the possession to owners of the plots despite receiving cost of the land.

According to information received by Golra police Zubair Khan and his colleagues had illegally occupied the land measuring 200 kanals owned by Capital Development Authority (CDA).

The administration of the civic agency had recovered the land owned by it on the identification of local citizens. Later, the land grabbers have illegally occupied the land owned by Salman Khan, former member administration of CDA.

The members of land grabbers gang have continued aerial firing for the last few days.

SSP Sajid Kiyani while taking action on the complaint lodged by Dr. Nabeel Shah has constituted a raiding party which conducted a raid with heavy contingent of police and apprehended culprits. The police during the raid have recovered heavy cache of arms from the office of Jamiat-e-Islami located in sector D-12 of capital.

Sources said that Zubair Khan and his close ally Khalid Bhatti had illegally sold about 700 kanals of land owned by local people and earned approximately Rs 1.75 billion.

The Inspector General of Police and SSP Islamabad had directed the SP to take stern action with these groups without any discrimination.

When “Daily Times’ contacted with Zubair Khan, local leader of JI, he categorically denied of any possession on that land adding that this project is owned by Ibrar and Khalid Bhatti.

According to my information, the police have recovered some 5 to 6 guns owned by private security company. If police recovered some 70 to 80 rifles then the same number of people would be apprehended.
