In order to make the Sindh Food Authority (SFA) effective to check quality of food being sold at eateries in the province, the Sindh government, on Wednesday, decided to recruit assistant food security officers in the regulatory body.
According to details, the Sindh government has released an ad for the phase wise recruitment of assistant food security officers in Sindh Food Authority (SFA).
Sindh Food Authority (SFA) director Abrar Shaikh has announced that as many as 40 officers would be recruited in Karachi in first phase, while hiring would be done in Nawabshah in second phase.”Tests for the recruitment will be taken on December 26 at SFA’s office in the province,” continued Abrar Shaikh. Shaikh said feasibility report has been prepared for mobile laboratories, for which license forms are also being issued.”Licenses will be awarded to those who will meet the criteria,” he said.
Earlier on November 20, in the wake of the death of two minor brothers from food poisoning after eating unhygienic food at a restaurant in Karachi, the Sindh chief secretary had presided over a meeting of the SFA during which a number of key decisions were taken to improve the working of the regulatory body.
It was decided that the SFA would recruit 40 food safety officers and launch a campaign to spread awareness among the public about expiry of food items.
It is pertinent to mention here that, the two kids, 18-month-old Ahmed and Muhammad, 5, breathed their last shortly after dining at the restaurant in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority area, with their mother on November 10.The post-mortem report of the bodies had also revealed that the two minors died owing to food poisoning.
