After losing to New Zealand on Friday, Sarfraz Ahmed looked depressed and took responsibility for the defeat. Over the last two years, Pakistan test team has not been up to the mark. There is a real possibility that Sarfraz might step down from the test match captaincy.
During a press conference, he said, “When things like this happen, you do start to think about it. But let’s see what happens. The tour of South Africa is a tough one and if you start thinking like this before it then it is not helpful for anyone,”
He further added, “If I make mistakes, or it is because of me that the team is losing then I will definitely think about it, and if there is someone better than me to do the Test captaincy, then he should,”
So far, selectors have shown confidence in Sarfraz and he will be leading the test team in the South Africa series as well. If Pakistan is unable to deliver in South Africa then Sarfraz might step down from test captaincy.
