PESHAWAR: Authorities on Tuesday replaced the head of the joint investigation team (JIT) formed to investigate the kidnapping and murder of Superintendent of Police (SP) Tahir Khan Dawar. Islamabad Police Investigation SP Gulfam Nasir was earlier appointed to head the seven-member JIT formed to probe the murder of SP Dawar via a notification issued by chief commissioner Amir Ali Ahmed. He was replaced on Tuesday with Operation deputy inspector general (DIG) Faisal Raja as the head of the investigation team. According to sources, SP Dawar case was a high-profile case and so a senior officer was appointed as head of JIT. SP Dawar was kidnapped in Islamabad on October 26 and his body was recovered in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province last week. The Afghan elders handed over SP Tahir Dawar’s body to a team consisting of a parliamentarian and government officials at Torkham’s border last week. State Minister for Interior Shehryar Afridi, MNA Mohsin Dawar and Shaukutallah Yousufzai received the body. Published in Daily Times, November 21st 2018.
