Lahore Commissioner Dr Mujtaba Piracha said on Saturday that informal consultative but pre-kickoff meeting with experts of architecture and urban development regarding the 2040 master plan of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) would pave a very precious way for the futuristic planning of Lahore and LDA premises. He said that the objective of the session was to include the opinions and suggestions of citizens and all other stakeholders. He said that master plan 2040 for LDA would be carved for modern and facilitative principals. During a meeting under his chair, Kamil Khan Mumtaz, Raza Ali, Nadeemul Haq, Almas Haider, LDA Director General Amina Imran Khan and other officers participated. Experts said that local area planning could only succeed in the overall master plan. Experts also suggested to take cues from national urbanisation policy and they said that objectives behind a master plan came before survey, analysis and planning. LDA DG Amina Khan said that to fulfill future needs, LDA would bring changes in its construction rules. It is pertinent to mention that the present LDA master plan is ending in 2020 and in 2014, LDA premises were extended to the whole of Lahore. In the briefing it was informed that the population of Lahore was increasing tremendously and irregular commercialisation was the biggest challenge. Published in Daily Times, November 18th 2018.
