ISLAMABAD: The closure of a cellular phone tower installed on the premises of PIMS has irked patients and their attendants. The mobile towers were shut on the orders of the Public Accounts Committee. Due to the move, mobile phones do not work properly on PIMS premises. Sources said audit paras were tabled in PAC that the mobile phone tower was operating without paying rent to the hospital administration to which the committee ordered its closure. The committee also directed senior management of the hospital to issue a fresh tender. PIMS Administrator Dr Altaf told Daily Times that three towers were installed on the premises of the hospital but operation of one company’s tower was suspended on the directives of PAC. The PIMS management has floated tenders and the tower would be re-installed according to law.
