A five-member delegation of Uzbekistan headed by its Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad today (Thursday) on an official visit to Pakistan.
During his stay in Islamabad, the Uzbek foreign minister will have a one-to-one meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs followed by delegation-level talks.
He will also call on Prime Minister Imran Khan. This will be the Uzbek foreign minister’s second visit to Pakistan this year.
Pakistan and Uzbekistan are members of SCO and enjoy a close and cordial relationship founded in mutual trust and understanding and augmented by strong cultural and religious affinities.
Commenting on the visit, Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisal said that the visit of the foreign minister would contribute to increased mutual cooperation on the bilateral and regional fronts.
“It would also reinforce Pakistan’s endeavours to deepen its engagement with Uzbekistan and build a strategic partnership with the country,” remarked the spokesman.
