The outgoing Inspector General of Frontier Corps (IGFC) North Lieutenant General Waseem Ashraf on Monday asserted that militancy has been ‘wiped off’ the tribal belt with an unconditional support of tribesmen.
Reportedly, he spoke at his farewell which was organised in his honour at the Shahkas Levies Center in Jamrud area of Khyber district.
He stated that armed forces had foiled all the evil designs of terrorists and insurgents who had been planning acts of vandalism and anarchy in the region.
Besides, Sector Commander Brigadier Arshad Tawfeeq, Khyber Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mehmood Aslam, assistant commissioners of Bara and Landi Kotal including Ismatullah Wazir and Muhammad Imran, respectively, were also present on the occasion.
Furthermore, he urged tribesmen to keep an eye on anti-social elements which could be detrimental to the regional peace and security.
He lauded their hospitality, and said that he would remember their affection and support.
A large number of tribal elders, administrative officials and military officers paid a rich tribute to Lt General Waseem Ashraf for launching several development projects to benefit the public at large in Bara subdivision of the district.
Later, souvenirs were presented to him for his outstanding services as the IGFC.
