KARACHI: Three suspected robbers were shot dead while two of their accomplices managed to escape when they were busy in looting a bungalow in PECHS Society on Tuesday. Meanwhile, a notorious drug peddler was killed during an alleged encounter with the police in SITE Area. A gang of robbers comprised on at least five members entered a bungalow in PECHS, Block-2, at 5am in the morning when a police party reached there after receiving information. The police received information through Police Helpline Madadgar 15 about presence of robbers inside a bungalow. On citing the police, the robbers opened fire on them. The police returned fire and wounded three suspects, who died on the spot, said Ferozabad SHO Kanson Dean. Two of their accomplices managed to escape during an exchange of fire. The police claimed to have seized cell phones, pistols, car and looted cash and other valuables from their possession. The robbers entered the house and held an owner of a bungalow, namely Haroon, who is a businessman, and his family members’ hostage at a gunpoint and started looting cash and other valuables from the house. The police managed to foil the robbery after someone from the neighbourers informed the police helpline. The bodies of the suspected robbers killed were shifted to Edhi morgue in Sohrab Goth for identification purpose after medico-legal formalities completed at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. SHO Dean said that the police have traced their families to identify them and soon they would be identified. The case has been registered and further investigation was underway. Separately, District West police claim to have killed a notorious drug peddler during a raid conducted near D-1 bus stop in SITE Area. Police officials claimed that the killed drug peddler was also involved in funding the banned militant outfits and target killers. SITE SHO Ghulam Hussain Korai said that the killed drug peddler, Amanullah has been involved in drugs business at Kati Pahari locality from the past ten years. The encounter took place when the police intercepted him near bus spot on a tip-off about his movement from the locality. The police also claim to have recovered drugs, hand grenade and a motorcycle from his possession. The officer said that the accused was also involved in financial supports of the militants of banned outfits and target killers. A police constable, Nafees was also wounded in the exchange of fire. He was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment. The case has been registered. Meanwhile, IGP Sindh Allah Dino Khowaja while appreciating the police actions for foiling house robbery and a killing of drug peddler in an encounter has announced Rs200, 000 each for police party participated in the encounters.
