A few days back, in coordination with Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, a seminar was held at our campus to highlight the issue of Breast Cancer. I attended the event and the information I gained over there, worth sharing, with every women in Pakistan. Although, there are many very simple ways to avoid this disease, In Pakistan, 40,000 women die due to Breast Cancer every year. Women should know that, by only regular self-examination habit they can save their self from this disease. To identify the cancer, it is also very important to have proper information about symptoms. So I would encourage every woman to learn self-examination technique. Besides the precautionary measures, a woman should not hide any irregularity in his body and immediately talk with her family at first, to get proper treatment from a qualified doctor. In our society, majority of the families consider it shameful to discuss breast cancer with doctor. We should eliminate these obliterated concepts from our society, as health care is also matter of fundamental right of every woman. On the other hand, woman across the map shall also be educated to treat their health issues with utmost priority without hiding or unnecessary delay due to prevalent misconception among masses. I am of the view that all public and private health institutes shall put their efforts like Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre. Furthermore, the idea of educating college / universities students about breast cancer is excellent and it will help such women in their homes too, those do not have direct access to the information.
