In my last article I beat my breast as much as I could to keep intact pregnant woman’s privacy against observership of male medical students which is supported by the teaching hospitals’ administration and connived at by the management of PM&DC and PHC. The topic was a bit lengthy on gynecology department of doctor-mafia secrets. We all know baby abduction, carer’s absence, doctor’s negligence, organ trafficking, forced Caesarian section (through intentionally misleading-written reports of Radiologists) cats, dogs and mice attacks are usual cases. But why such things happen? In reply to some questions a retired Dr. Rashid Mehmood Raufi MBBS, DTBC diseases, MPH and MBAE, a former Medical Superintendent of Govt., Infectious Diseases Hospital Bilal Ganj, Lahore answered that he himself saw 20 deliveries without patients’s official consent when he was male medical student. He also admitted that when patient used to be resisting to show a fiduciary pose of her delivery they would make an excuse of medical complications which was always forged by their seniors and it is still a very normal part of their practice throughout the country’s medical facilities. It is an open disregard of PHC’s Rights of Patients and Others, Part-A clause 15, 16, 17, 20, 21 and PM&DC’s Code of Ethics Part II General section 3 clause D and Part VIII Research Ethics and Consent sections, clauses 3, 4 and 6. In the history of Pakistan medical and dental surgery patients have been deprived of their rights particularly carer’s presence in operation theatres and labour rooms, it is a big gap which might not be filled unless we give full rights to patients of which they are entitled to. Baby abductors are allowed since all security staff strictly stand guard of lidding doctor-mafia secrets. As a matter of fact carer is not allowed to eyewitness doctor’s negligence and organ trafficking as well. Doctor’s negligence and organ theft are the crimes which are exercisable under not only PM&DC’s Code of Ethics Part IV Council’s Expectation clause 11. C, E, G, J, Part VI Ethical Standards of Professional Competence, Care and Conduct clause 20 of Permission of Patient Before examination and Part VIII of Research Ethics and Consent clause 43. (1) and (4). Talking of ICUs we know it is a place where no carer is allowed, again it is a myth. You have a patient who was operated and directed to the ICU but you do not know whether he is alive or dead. He is kept there for sometime and after the due course of time you are informed ”We are sorry”. Who knows if they were sorry now or they were sorry in the operation theatre (a result of a doctor’s negligence) which is liable for an action to be taken action as per PM & DC’s Code of Ethics Part VI Ethical Standards of Professional Competence, Care and Conduct clause 21 of Care (1) PHC’s Part-A clauses 4, 5, 6, 11, 15, 20, 19, and 25 but also graspable by the state law which has a long detail. The profession has become a doctor-mafia, so headstrongly aggressive that no one dares to raise voice when they have patients with them. They just wait for discharging of their patients with good health and complete organs from the hospital and to say thank God. There are long lists of baby abduction and organ theft cases throughout the history of Pakistan. For baby abduction few parents were successful in filing FIRs and restoration of their babies but for organ theft and doctor’s negligence I have not seen any carer won the case. Few years back a girl died by a doctor’s negligence, she had an issue of her vertebrae, the doctor gave an incision, operated it and got cut her intestine due to his negligence. He stitched her incision without taking notice of her cut intestine, consequently she died within hours, and the case could not be followed due to doctor’s influences. Her father filed a case against him, paid to Rickshaw drivers, bill-posters to put up posters, slates and banners but all in vain because there was no eyewitness, there would have been an eyewitness if there had been a carer. Talking of ICUs we know it is a place where no carer is allowed, again it is a myth. You have a patient who was operated and directed to ICU but you do not know whether he is alive or dead. He is kept there for sometime and after due course of time you are informed ‘‘We are sorry’’. Who knows it was sorry now or it was sorry in the operation theatre (a result of a doctor’s negligence) which is liable to be taken action as per PM&DC’s Code of Ethics Part VI Ethical Standards of Professional Competence, Care and Conduct clause 21 of Care (1) against Negligence in respect of duties. As per the standards ultra sound examination is to be conducted by a registered medical practioner who has a working experience under some experienced radiologist so that the chances of negligences be eliminated in result and report writing. This is called reliable radiology result and report writing but what they do, they keep a paramedical staff for radiology examination. After the examination is finished the result is sent to radiologist who prepares a report hinging upon the result by a non-professional staff. Up to now this is a normal adopted procedure by medical facilities. But if you are a pregnant woman and you are going to have a normal deliver by the grace of God then the procedure will be vice versa. They will follow the standards of radiology department set by the competent authority but to abnormalise the result and report! Actually you are going to have a forced caesarian section. They follow the procedure when they need to make special fake reports to plunder you. God bestowed upon you a normal delivery now they are looking at you as a prey. A prey who does not know anything and just lying in front of them to do what they can, not what they have to. Our hospitals are the least multi-ethnic but they are the most multi-genders. You will see doctors, dogs, nurses, cats and mice and insects work in collaboration. Hygeias of our hospitals are cats, dogs and mice, they part and parcels of our medical facilities, they are kept to keep hospitals hygienically clean according to the standards maintained by WHO. At first sight you cannot understand whether it is a pet hospital or a human hospital since the strength is usually equal. On your television screen you have seen a cat overlooking a general-anesthesia-administered patient whose naked belly is at hazards. You have seen a team of mice busy in baby eating whose screams reached staff and then he was saved. These animals and insects have privileges to walk to and fro without any legal clauses imposed on them. No clause of PM&DC which punished them that is why they are very free to move within any medical facilities. I have been to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, I visited its five provinces’ hospitals, two provinces of Pakistan and spoke to several doctors and administration staff and found hell of difference in administration. Let me tell you why we do not now these secrets because those who are entrusted with such information they conceal it. They know it is their duty to impart to patients and their carers for the rights entitled by the PM&DC and PHS. I request to Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan Mr Justice Sir Saqib Nisar to take notice of such malpractices so that respect of our ladies be protected.
