ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain is in action to form an alliance against his archrival Nawaz Sharif. PML sources told Daily Times that Shujaat met former president Pervez Musharraf in Dubai and discussed the country’s political situation and the possibilities of a new political alliance to give the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz a real hard time in the upcoming general elections. The former president said he was ready to play his role in this regard, sources said. Shujaat said the opposition parties should unite on one-point agenda against the government if they wanted to press the prime minister to accept their demands. He was of the view that the opposition leaders should shun their differences. Sources said the Chaudhry of Gujrat raised some reservations as well and said Musharraf would have to take right decisions or else his political career may come to an end. The two former comrades agreed that they would keep in touch in the future as well and former deputy prime minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi would also attend the next meeting. Sources said the two agreed to finalise a roadmap to take all the opposition parties onboard. Earlier, Shujaat had met Pakistan People’s Party President Asif Zardari, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan to form an alliance against the government. On the other hand, Pakistan Muslim League-Functional President Pir Pagara also contacted Musharraf and inquired after his health. They are likely to meet soon in Dubai.
