Paris fashion Week — a closer look

Published on: October 2, 2018 4:01 AM

After London, Milan and New York, the global fashion capital, Paris is hosting its annual fashion week. The city which is home to celebrated designers failed to disappoint by bringing ground-breaking yet wearable fashion on the runway. Influential guests and revolutionary concepts flooded the stage with trends for Spring/Summer 2019. Fashion shows are customarily known for revealing experimental looks with peculiar silhouettes; however Paris fashion week fixated more on beauty and sophistication. The focus was not on exaggeration but on presentation of cutting-edge combinations of elementary dresses. Dries Van Noten’s collection was agreed to be among the best looks as this House fused ornate tops with workable pants. The prevailing fashion values were defied and designers grounded their collections on pure elegance and class.

Galliano dived in this track by creating haute couture line exclusively for men, shunning preset ideas of masculinity. Gucci mesmerised the individuals through the youth motivated spirit of self-freedom

The show featured refined collections that spoke of simplicity. All the noteworthy fashion lines unveiled played with subtle colors. Black and white ruled the color palettes as one can never go wrong with these safe hues. The Parisian fashion orbited around clean-cut garments, minimal prints, and tailored looks. Basic designs were enhanced and innovated to create enthralling pieces. In this tasteful fashion week, classic trends are never left out of the zone. Pea coats and jackets paired with unique lowers were recurrent in nearly all collections. The garments breezing in on the ramp had shimmering and sparkling elements attached that added life to them as observed in the debut collection by Hedi Slimane. Heavy hitter designers like Chloe pivoted their design lines on cultures and cultural movements. Egyptian lifestyle was inculcated in dresses ingeniously by Balmain using the technique of mummification. The style of youth was also taken into account that exhibited effortlessness and modernism.

Gucci mesmerised the individuals through the youth motivated spirit of self-freedom. The menswear suits were donned with no suggestion of undershirts, hollering an air of confidence. The spotlight was seized by the artistic director of Louis Vuitton who was applauded as a saviour for travellers by proposing clothes made from pieces of luggage. Crossbody bags as shirts and huge pockets made it evident that Paris can convert imagination into reality, all the while maintaining its urbane factor. In PFW, the defining boundaries that differentiate male and females through garments are shattered. Galliano dived in this track by creating haute couture line exclusively for men, shunning preset ideas of masculinity. “I hope this is a journey to help us discover a new sensuality, a new sexuality, breaking down pre-conceived ideas of what’s masculine and what’s feminine through cutting skills,” he clarified.
