
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to appoint Defence Minister Pervez Khattak as the head of the 20-member committee to investigate rigging allegations in the 2018 general elections.
The committee will be consisted of 10 members each from government and opposition parties.
The Parliamentary committee will be consisted of five members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and one member each from its allies Balochistan Awami Party, MQM-Pakistan, BNP-Mengal, PML-Q and Grand Democratic Alliance.
The PTI 5-members consist of Pervez Khatak, Fawad Chaudhry, Shireen Mazari, Ali Muhammad Khan and Amir Dogar. Member from its allies are Amin-ul-Haq (MQM-P), Tariq Bashir Cheema (PML-Q), Akhtar Megal (BNP), Khalid Maghsi (BAP) and either Gaux Bux or Fehmida Mirza from GDA.
Opposition party PML-N has also finalized four-member team comprises of Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Sanaullah, Rana Tanveer and Murtaza Abbasi.
However, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will forward its recommendations to Speaker National Assembly on Wednesday.
