ISLAMABAD: The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has decided to tighten the noose around homeopaths, traditional physicians (hakeems) and quacks who use indigenous natural herbs for curing the people. Now these homeopathic doctors, hakeems and quacks cannot play havoc with the health of people by claiming “guaranteed remedy” of major diseases, including heart problems, diabetes, epilepsy and disability, openly after coming under the circle of regulations. Sources told Daily Times that the Ministry of National Health has forwarded the draft of the Substitute Medicine Labeling Rules 2017 to the provincial governments in which it is suggested that the homeopaths, hakeems and quacks would not treat the people suffering from tuberculosis, asthma, deafness, hernia, leprosy, blood pressure, mental disorders, infertility, sugar, sexual disorders.
