Maulana Fazl did nothing for Kashmir cause: Lord Nazir

Published on: September 16, 2018 3:10 AM

British House of Lords member, Lord Nazir Ahmad, on Saturday, said that the Jamiat Ulema Islam Fazal (JUI-F) president and the former chairman of Kashmir Committe Maulana Fazal-ur-Rahman, failed to do anything effective for the Kashmir cause. He was addressing the journalists at the residence of former Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi.

Lord Nazir, during his three-day visit to Multan, alleged that the Indian Prime Minister Narendera Modi was a Hindu extremist. “Modi can come to Pakistan to attend the wedding ceremonies but he cannot tolerate an economically developed Pakistan,” he said.

Lord Nazir vowed to support all the ongoing freedom movements in Kashmir. Indian Army was inflicting violence on the Kashmiris and was involved in the bloodshed but the British government resorted to silence on the Kashmir cause because of its relationship with India, he added.

Lord Nazir further said that the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was very important and it would help strengthening Pakistan’s economy. He said that the European parliament admitted that the recent general elections in Pakistan were free and fair.

He appreciated the initiatives taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan after coming into power.

“Imran is an honest man and he has started fulfilling his promises made to the nation”, said Lord Nazir.

The House of Lords member demanded the government to resolve the issues of overseas Pakistanis. He said that overseas Pakistanis would donate whatever amount they could in the Dams Fund. “I appreciate the initiative of Chief Justice of Pakistan but he should also reform the criminal justice system and provide speedy justice to the millions of cases pending in courts,” he added.

Lord Nazir extended condolences to the Sharif family on the demise of former First Lady Kalsoom Nawaz. He further said that both Hassan and Hussain Nawaz should have come to Pakistan if they hadn’t done anything wrong and they should have faced the cases in Pakistani courts after the burial of their mother, he added.
