The Sharif family has politely refused to get any assistance from the Pakistan High Commission in London for the repatriation of the body of former first lady Kulsoom Nawaz to Pakistan.
Pakistan’s High Commissioner to UK Sahibzada Ahmed Khan said that following instructions by the Foreign Office, Pakistan High Commission in London immediately reached out to the Sharif family for the provision of any required assistance. However, the family thanked the high commission officer who visited them and told him that they had already made arrangements for placing the body in mortuary and later carrying it to the Heathrow airport for onward transportation to Pakistan.
The high commissioner said he himself visited the Sharif family residence to convey a message of condolence from the government of Pakistan. He said two death certificates have been issued to the bereaved family, one by the British Home Office and second by the Pakistan High Commission. “We have also issued instructions to the PIA office in London for provision of full cooperation to the bereaved family for the transportation of the body to Pakistan,” he added.
