LAHORE: ARY television network president Salman Iqbal and business tycoon Malik Riaz donated millions to the Diamer-Bhasha dam after Prime Minister Imran Khan appealed the nation to assist the government in implementation of the project. Malik Riaz donated Rs50 million, while Salman Iqbal donated Rs10 million after PM Khan’s appeal. In a statement from Riaz’s spokesperson, it was said that “Malik Riaz and Bahria Town would keep on striving to the best of their extent for the betterment of the country and to cater the energy demands.” Iqbal, on the other hand, took to Twitter and said that “after the initiation of CJ and the PM’s appeal to Pakistanis to extend support to the govt for building dams. ARY announced a contribution of $100,000 (Rs10 million) to the fund.” The ARY chief also requested all Pakistanis to come forward and support the government and chief justice.
