FIA arrests six human traffickers in Gujranwala and neighbouring cities

GUJRANWALA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday arrested six human traffickers in a fresh crackdown against them in the cities of Sargodha, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Wazirabad and Sialkot.

FIA Deputy Director Mufakhir Adeel informed the media that the suspects including Qammar Abbas, Amjad Farooq, Tahir Khan, Muhammad Asif, Adil and Rashid Khan were involved in transporting people abroad illegally.

Police constable crushed to death by tractor trolley

A police head constable was mowed to death on Tuesday by a speeding tractor trolley in Ghakkhar Town of Gujranwala.

Reportedly, head constable Sabir was standing in front of the police-check Jorra Sain when a tractor trolley ran over him.

He was rushed to the DHQ Hospital where he breathed his last.

Anti-Corruption Dept detains ASI in bribery case

The Anti-Corruption Establishment’s (ACE) branch in Gujranwala on Tuesday detained an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police for his alleged involvement in a bribery case in Malakwal city of Mandi Bahauddin district of Punjab.

Reportedly, a citizen Muhammad Ashraf filed an application with the ACE, accusing Malikwal police station ASI Ansar Butt of taking a bribe of Rs 60,000 from him for arresting a suspect and continuing investigation in a case.

However, Ashraf claimed that the officer neither continued investigation nor arrested the suspect.

Following investigation into the matter, the ACE team found sufficient evidence against the accused officer and arrested him during a raid.

Labourer dies after falling from a crane

A labourer lost his life on Tuesday when his foot skidded from a crane while working in a ceramics factory situated near Qila Chand bypass in Gujranwala.

Reportedly, Ghulam Abbas fell from a crane to the floor while working in the factory.

He was rushed to the DHQ Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
