According to the notification, the petroleum levy on petrol has been maintained at Rs80 per litre, while the levy on high-speed diesel (HSD) remains Rs70.82 per litre. The levy on kerosene oil has also been kept unchanged at Rs20.36 per litre.
The announcement comes after the government increased the prices of petroleum products for a three-day period as part of its revised fuel pricing mechanism.
Under the latest notification, the price of high-speed diesel has been raised by Rs31.05 per litre, taking the new retail price to Rs354.35 per litre. Petrol prices have also increased by Rs5.44 per litre, with the new price set at Rs316.15 per litre.
Officials said the unchanged petroleum levy reflects the government’s current taxation policy despite fluctuations in international oil prices and domestic pricing adjustments.
Pakistan’s fuel prices have recently come under pressure due to volatility in global crude oil markets, influenced by geopolitical tensions and changes in international supply conditions. As a net importer of petroleum products, the country remains highly sensitive to movements in global energy prices.
The government has also announced that petroleum product prices will now be determined on a daily basis, replacing the previous pricing schedule. The move is aimed at allowing domestic fuel prices to respond more quickly to changes in international market trends and exchange rate movements.

The latest increase in fuel prices is expected to affect transportation costs, industrial operations and overall inflation, as diesel plays a key role in the country’s logistics, agriculture and freight sectors. Authorities say they will continue monitoring international oil markets while reviewing domestic fuel pricing in line with the new daily adjustment mechanism.
