Anti-Corruption Dept arrests govt official for corruption

Published on: September 3, 2018 3:05 AM

The Anti-Corruption Establishment’s (ACE) branch in Gujranwala on Sunday arrested a grade-17 officer for his alleged involvement in corruption and misuse of power case.

Reportedly, former town officer Qalab Abbas allowed construction of commercial buildings in Aroop town without acquiring No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) from builders, causing a massive loss to government exchequer.

The ACE lodged a case against him in 2015 on several complaints filed by citizens of Gujranwala.

Meanwhile, the ACE found enough evidence against the accused during investigation, and subsequently arrested him during a raid.
