ISLAMABAD: Newly appointed Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Dr Fahmida Mirza has congratulated the Pakistan athletes who won bronze medals at the on-going Asian Games 2018 in Indonesia. Through a press release, the minister, who is also looking after the affairs of the country’s sports sector, congratulated athlete Arshad Nadeem for winning bronze in the javelin throw, athletics event. On Monday, Arshad achieved his personal best and also created a new national record. Meanwhile, Fahmida has also congratulated Pakistan’s karateka Nargis and the national kabaddi side for winning bronze at the Games. The minister said that there was no dearth of talent in the field of sports in Pakistan. In the ongoing Games, because of poor standards of sports and less opportunities for sportsmen, Pakistan, a country of over 200 million people, so far could not even bag a silver medal, let alone gold. However, all expectations now are from the national hockey team – who have performed brilliantly in all their matches so far – to bring silver or gold back home.
