The Bahawalpur police on Tuesday carried out traffic rules awareness drive wherein traffic wardens instead of imposing penalty on helmetless motorists and commuters, distributed traffic laws awareness pamphlets amongst them. Reportedly, a large number of students also participated in the cavalcade led by District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Muhammad Iqbal Khan, and held banners and placards with an effort to reduce distracted and reckless driving in Bahawalpur. Meanwhile, the officers encouraged bike riders and commuters to abide by the traffic rules to ensure their personal safety on the roads. In his talk on the occasion, DPO Dr Iqbal stated that the campaign was a part of immediate steps to improve traffic flow and reduce road accidents in Bahawalpur. He further said that the traffic police department has been coordinating with the concerned authorities to work together with all available resources for ensuring safer roads for commuters in the district.
