Khairpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Fattah Hulio on Saturday expressed deep concerns over a significant increase in traffic accidents in the recent days which had claimed the lives of four people and left at least 50 injured in Kumb city and its adjoining region of Khairpur District. Reportedly, he paid a surprise visit to Kot Diji Taluka Hospital, Ranipur Rural Health Center (RHC) and Kumb RHC, and inspected the record of patients and staff. The lack of facilities and absent staff in the hospital and RHCs further irked him. Meanwhile, he ordered Peoples Primary Healthcare Institute (PPHI) officials and Khairpur District Health Officer (DHO) Nisar Ahmed Phulpoto to ensure provision of all essential facilities and medical equipment in the healthcare units and hospitals, and submit a detailed report to him as soon as possible. After two hours of DC’s visit, DHO Phulpoto arrived at the hospital and assured the visitors and patients that their grievances would he resolved on the priority basis. Woman and her daughter die, husband injured in fatal road accident Two members of a same family were killed on Saturday while another sustained critical injuries in a road accident near Kumb city in Khairpur District of Sindh province. Reportedly, a Mazda truck loaded with bananas overturned and rammed into a motorcycle near Sui Gas bus stop on Mehran National Highway. Resultantly, Razia Bebi and her 10-year-old daughter Aisha died on the spot, whereas her husband Fakeer Hussain sustained severe injuries. The deceased’s bodies and injured man were rushed to Thari Mirwah Hospital for medical attention. After medico-legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to their heirs in Tando Mir Ali village and the injured was referred to the Civil Hospital Khairpur due to his precarious condition. Police arrest three wanted criminals, recover weapons and narcotics Police on Saturday arrested three criminals including a notorious criminal in an injured condition after crossfire between police officers and suspected bandits near Pir Mangio link road in Khairpur District. Reportedly, Station House Officer (SHO) Shah Hussain raided on a suspected hideout on a tip-off, and succeeded to capture a notorious criminal Ghulam Abbas Kandhrog after cross firing, while his accomplices managed to flee from the spot. Meanwhile, officers seized a TT pistol and 35 cartridges from his possession. Later, police chased his accomplices including Irfan Metlo and narcotics peddler Yasir Kandhro and arrested them. Police recovered a repeating pistol, a large quantity of cartridges and 1,390 grams of Charas from their possession. According to police sources, the criminals were declared proclaimed offenders in several heinous crimes including kidnappings, murders, road robberies, and attacking on-duty police officers.
