Govt school holds speech contest on ‘Independence Day’ theme

KHANEWAL: Government Middle School Darkhana on Saturday organised a speech competition on the theme ‘Independence Day’, and an inauguration ceremony of tree-plantation drive ahead of August 14 in Khanewal.

Reportedly, the Education Department Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mehar Aftab Ahmed was the chief guest and the District Education Officer (DEO Secondary Education) Mahmood Nabi, DEO Elementary Abida Nasreen, DEO Deputy Jahania Nasreen Akhtar were also present on the occasion.

The prestigious panel of judges comprised Assistant Education Officer (AEO) Sobia Almas, Madiha Rehman and Nabila Kausar.

A group of students performed a series of tableaux to highlight the message of Quad-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

“Our ancestors gave sacrifices to achieve this separate land of Pakistan, and it is need of the time to run Pakistan according to the vision of Quaid-e-Azam,” the CEO Ahmed said, adding that every citizen should play its role for the development and prosperity of the country, and in this regard, students need to pay particular attention towards their studies.

Later, the CEO and other representatives inaugurated tree-plantation campaign.

GCC to hold Qirat and Naat contests today

Meanwhile, the district administration issued a schedule to celebrate the Independence Day in Khanewal.

On August 12 (today), the Government College of Commerce (GCC) have planned to organise Qirat and Naat contests, patriotic songs programme, painting competitions, seminars and argumentations.

Besides, many other high schools have prepared to follow the same schedule, and in addition badminton and football matches would be played at sports stadium and in union council high schools at 5 pm, respectively.

Livestock Dept organises motorcycle rally

On the other hand, under the directives of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ashfaq Ahmed Chaudhary, the Livestock Department has organised a motorcycle rally today at 10 am, initiating from its regional additional director’s office to the Civil Veterinary Hospital.
