Vidya Balan will be playing the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The actor has recently unveiled in an interview that she will portray the former leader in a web series that will focus on Sagarika Ghose’s book, ‘Indira: India’s Most Powerful Prime Minister’. Earlier there was a debate that whether the cinematic adaption of Ghose’s book should be made as a film or a web series. However, in conversation with Mid-Day, the 39 year old actress revealed that Indira Gandhi biopic will be a web series. “There is too much material for it be made into a film. So, we decided to turn it into a web series. We don’t know how many seasons we will be allotting to it. We are in the process of putting together a team,” she said. The “Lage Raho Munna Bhai” actress further shared that she is excited to finally see her dream of playing one of the most influential personalities finally becoming true. With numerous controversies regarding such projects, Vidya was asked if they will ask the Gandhi family for permission. To which she replied, “We don’t require permission, as it’s based on a book and we have the rights to it.” Reportedly, the show will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala. The web series may take a while as the material is still being put together.
