5 simple ways to have a great start to your day

Published on: August 8, 2018 7:57 PM

Having a positive and uplifting start in the morning sets the tone for the rest of the day and highly increases the chances of the rest of it being filled with positivity and productivity. Here are 5 simple ways to have a great start to your day.

Place positive affirmations next to your bed

If you keep positive quotes, encouraging words and positive affirmations next to your bed, where you place your phone while sleeping.

They’ll be the first things you read in the morning as in today’s day and age, our phone’s are the first thing we reach out for as soon as we wake up. Reading these words as soon as you wake up will tend to motivate you to start a day full of hard work and determination.

Spend time alone with your breakfast

At times, we find it tough to find time throughout the day to turn off and relax for a while.

Something or the other always seems to come up, whether it is a task our boss tells us to complete at work or a notification from one of our social media apps that’s pops up on your phone. The best way to schedule time daily to turn off, enjoy the environment and practice gratitude is at breakfast time, before your day actually begins.

Eat breakfast alone, without any electronic devices, just with your thoughts for company. Clear your mind and set aside space for all the chaos the day is going to throw your way.

Stretch

No need to perform vigorous exercise in the morning that tires you out before your professional day even begins.

Instead, just do some simple stretches to get rid of the knots in your body so you can start the day in a fresh framework, ready to take on any tension that might come your way.

Make a rewarding to-do list

As you prepare yourself for the day, make a to-do list of all things that need to be accomplished by you throughout the course of it. However, don’t do simply just that.

Make sure to end your to-do list with a leisurely activity that you know you’ll enjoy, especially after a day of hard work.

This way you’ll complete all your tasks for the day with this activity of relaxation at the back of your mind as a reward and hence, you’ll perform to the best of your capabilities.

Avoid thinking of yesterday’s troubles as soon as you wake up

Thinking of unsolved issues from the previous day as soon as you wake up is a natural thing to do. However, training your mind to avoid doing so is a useful tactic if you wish to have a positive start to your day.

These issues, of course, need to be dealt with at a later stage of the day but avoiding them in the instances of waking up is what’s favourable to you as it saves your mind from having sudden outbursts of panic early in the morning.
