Woman accuses landlords in Okara of rape, assault

Published on: August 5, 2018 7:46 PM

OKARA: Landlords in Mian Khan Chorasta area of district Depalpur in Okara were on Sunday accused of raping, assaulting and shaving head of a woman.

Speaking to the media, the victim said she was kidnapped by influential people, identified as Ghaffar, Gulzar and Zubair, in her area after her husband, who was working for the landlords for a minimal pay decided to quit the job.

She claimed that the landlords did so to teach her husband a lesson. It was also claimed that a First Information Report (FIR) was filed against the accused but no arrests were made.

“I was taken to the dera of Faiz Ahmed Watto in Ameen Kot where I was raped for 7-days until I managed to flee. They shaved my head too. My medical report was presented in front of the magistrate and my statement was recorded under section 161-164. However, the police failed to arrest the culprits and are pressuring us to reach an agreement,” she claimed.

She also requested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) to take action against the accused and guarantee provision of justice.

Daily Times reached out to Police Investigation Officer Rana Umer Hayat, who said that no arrests were made yet because they were still waiting for the DNA test report, which will be prepared within the next few days.

He added that the case looks ‘ingenuine’ and ‘engineered’ since the woman was reluctant to give DNA samples for testing earlier. “We now await the DNA report, after which we will decide our next move,” Hayat said.
