Mamnoon for promulgating Islam’s true perspective

Published on: February 21, 2017 5:01 PM

ISLAMABAD: President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain has said that the extremist mindset and terrorism had left painful imprints on humanity. Scholars, teachers and students should play their positive role in highlighting the true perspective of Islam.

While addressing at International Islamic University’s women campus on Tuesday the president said Islam ensures welfare of humanity and those misinterpreting its glorious teachings and fanning hatred, were a disgrace to humanity.

He stressed that educational institutions should play due role in nurturing youth in light of Islamic teachings. He also emphasised on devising the educational curriculum to effectively cater to the needs of changing world and added that government was working on introducing a new curriculum.

He hailed IIUI and said that the university was providing quality education integrated with teachings of Islam to its students. He said that it was appreciable that IIUI was providing a suitable learning milieu to 15 thousand female students. President Mamnoon also expressed satisfaction that International Islamic University was the first of its kind in Islamic world, which had the objective of preparing intellectuals, who could not only safeguard the intellectual basis of Islam, but lead the Islamic world.

He was of the view that media was unnecessarily promoting the practice of ostentatious display of wealth and luxury in society.

He urged upon the Muslim scholars to guide media representatives in promoting correct perspective. He said the role of teachers and students was significant in highlighting the true perspective of Islam. He stressed upon the Muslim scholars to foster positive impression about Islam as a religion of peace.

The president said Muslim Ummah and Pakistan was facing difficult times at present and the negative projection of events by media was creating problems.

He asked the Pakistani female students to study and perform to their fullest potential, but never compromise on their self-respect and their identity as a Pakistani woman.

While addressing the foreign students, he said that they were lucky for having an opportunity to study at a remarkable educational institution and they would be known as IIUI and Pakistan’s ambassadors once they complete degrees and return to native countries.
