Girl students outshine boys in BA, BSc results in Multan

MULTAN: Girl students outshined boys by securing nine out of ten positions in the annual examination of 2018 held under the supervision of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) in Multan.

The gender-wise break-up of the result showed that girls’ pass percentage almost doubled boys as 47 percent girls passed the examination as compare to 24 percent boys.

A result declaration ceremony was held at the executive hall of BZU on Wednesday, where examinations controller Muhammad Suhaib Rashid said that a total of 49,433 students appeared in the examination while 18,158 of them passed with the overall passing percentage of 36.73 percent.

29,534 students belonged to Bachelor of Arts (BA) group, and only 7,364 of them passed the exams with the passing percentage of 24.93 percent.

19,899 students belonged to Bachelor of Science (BSc) group, and only 10,794 of them passed the exams with the passing percentage of 54.24 percent.

A total number of 1,593 male candidates appeared in BA exams from public institutions, and 559 of them passed the exams.

A total number of 5,708 female candidates appeared in BA exams from public institutions, and 2,730 of them passed the exams.

Moreover, 12,012 (external) male and 10,221(external) female students appeared to pass the exams, from which 1,470 and 2,604 were declared successful, respectively.

Furthermore, 3,624 (regular) male and 7,402 (regular) female students appeared to pass the exams, from which 1,819 and 5,547 were declared successful, respectively.

Later, Suhaib Rashid announced the names of position holders including BSc students Hira Wajid, who clinched first position with 727 marks, Anmol Munir, who secured second position with 718 marks, Nalian Sukina, who bagged third position with 406 marks, Muhammad Yousaf, who received fourth position with 698 marks, and Fatima Siddique, who took fifth place with 695 marks.

He further appreciated BA exams position holders including Shehar Bano, who clinched first place with 629 marks, Hafsa Akbar, who secured second place with 623 marks, Ayesha Siddiqa, who took third position with 620 marks, Maria Jamil, who bagged fourth place with 617 marks and Huma Perven with 616 marks.
